Default Clutch Possibly Going?

Hey guys, I just got a 98 EX Coupe today. I was wondering if someone could maybe point me in the right direction. In order to engage the gear - the gear engages after releasing the pedal not too far from fully depressed. Is this a sign that the clutch may be on its way out? When driving, the pedal does not need to be depressed very far to release the car from the gear it is in. Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance

so your saying you don't need to release the clutch and it's already moving in gear? didn't quite understand what you said.

hes saying that the clutch is engaging at a low point in the pedal

this usually means the master cylinder or the slave is going out

or

the guide pin behind the clutch pedal needs to be adjusted (most likely case is the bad MC and slave)

How labor intensive is changing the master cylinder and slave cylinder?

alot easier than having to change a clutch

labor is simple EXCEPT for unbolting the mastercylinder from the firewall inside the car

without useful tools like a swivel and deep sockets, you'd get pretty aggravated cause of how unconfortable it is under there

but its not hard to tackle, a noob could handle it in a couple of hours. bullsh!tting included

Sounds good! Should I start out with the master, then change the slave cylinder? or vice versa?

i usually do the master cylinder first, get all of the hard stuff out the way first, then do the slave, theres really no order, just recommended that you replace both the MC and SC at the same time.

then you bleed the system of air and recommended flush it with fresh fluid after you replace everything

just to be sure, after re reading your first post

the clutch grabs at a point very low in the pedal?

when your letting off the clutch from, say, puling forward, the clutch grabs almost instantly?

Correct - not almost instantly, but about an inch or so back from being fully depressed.
