Question about wheel studs.
i just bought some extended wheel studs and i took them to a place to put them on and they quoted me $200... sounds like they are asking a lot. or is that really how much it costs?
The reason they cost that much, is that many places will do the labor of taking out the wheels of course, then the hub itself and press the studs in. that is the right way to do it. and its a job that takes a few hours.
Another way to do it is hammer them out of the hub and somewhat hammer them back in through a slot on the hub. This isnt really the right way to do it but its faster. The thing is it may not be as straight and accurate as the Right way but it may be done cheaper by your local race shop.

another way to do it is by using an open ended lugnut and just tighten it forcing the stud to go in place nice n straight... its better if you take apart one side at a time so you can apply the brakes on 1 side of the car while you're turnin the lug on the other that way the hub stays nice and still...
the only way to do it right is to take the hub off the car. period.
my friend broke down on the road the other week, after an accident 3 of the 4 wheel studs broke of the cars left front hub [a 1996 civic dx]. it was snowing and about 5 degrees out. i hammered the busted studs out and hammered the new ones in but it is ghetto. the knuckle does not allow the stud to slip in straight so you end up hammering it in on an angle. once it is all the way in it will seat straight but it is not very freindly on the threads...
