Earlier in the year (Jan) my temp guage would move back and forth a tiny bit as if its circulating the cold and hot water and reading it that way.. and when the car got to normal temperatures it would work normal...

NOW it just stopped working and when i turn off the car and turn it back on it works sometimes or while i drive it would just leap to where it should be at or die when its actually working. Most of the time it doesnt work though. This just happened.

Can anyone tell me what it could be? Bad guage? or a problem somewhere else? I have never touched the needle and ive owned the car for a while...

*EDIT* Its a 99 GSR about to hit 100,000 miles

 

Sounds like you might need a new thermostat but it could also be a faulty gauge or a bad ground wire. You should check under the distributor where the connector is.

It works now! The ground was holding with a strand of wire; I fixed it... thanks again for the help
