Default Lowering and Modifications

i have a 97 Acccord Lx and so far I have added a cold air intake and a number one cat back system. I on the verge of having it lowered but need input. Do all Honda's need camber kit and if so what are some decent names I should consider. I will be more than happy to post some pics but I can promise that you are not missing much..lol.. Assistance please...

less than a 2 in drop wont need a camber kit...but it wouldnt hurt to have one, as you will have a bit of negative camber (though not much).....ingalls makes decent kits, and there are two kinds for the front.....in the rear, you can just use washers as spacers to push the top of the wheel out, though im not sure exactly where...run a search on camber kit or "washer trick" and you should come up with the details

I agree with fw190bvi. I have a 1.9" drop and camber is acceptable and falls within a range of some factory cars. Off the top of my head my camber was less than -1. Sweet as!

Toe kills tyres just as well as camber. Alignment is your friend.

Post pics after you drop it - we all know what stock accords look like.

yes, immediately after you drop it, get an alignment.

The mods need to make a thread specifically for info on lowering cars or change the title of "Basic Guide to Accords" to "Lowering your Ride". Too many of these threads are being made.

EVERY car is different, how your car will react to lowering in camber, caster, and toe is different that XYZ's accord thats the same year, and all that on the same suspension componets...

juts make sure after its done you take it to a alignment shop and align it and ask for the camber specs...but don't let camber fool ya, its catser and toe that can EAT tires just as fast, if not faster than that word camber everyone concetrates on...

You actually want to wait a few weeks for the springs to settle and then get an alignment.....

I have actually been looking at neuspeed springs. They offer a 1.80 in the front and a 1.70 in the rear. The price is pretty decent and for most of the cars I have seen with them seem to look pretty sweet. I also saw a company called suspension technics but dont have much information on them and their products. Anyone ever heard of them?????

springs should be allowed to settle, but it doesnt take more than a few days or so....all the weight they hold up, they only changes they'll make is really if they get old and start to sag.....theyre elastic, they never really "settle"

The suspension I bought is adjustable 0-4" and I left it at stock height for a while until I could afford a decent camber kit and alignment. This also allowed the springs to "settle" or whatever, I dont think they changed much at all from the first day they were installed though. I lowered the car almost 3", since then (after the alignment) the tires have worn just as even as stock suspension. I've seen cars lowered 1" w/o camber kit that have horrible tire wear... I guess it just depends on the car sometimes. Good luck

....I'd have to say the same, I have tokico adj. coilover RAK-501s and I had it 1/2" lowered for about a month. My toe was almost perfect after an alignment but my tires were extremely slightly starting to wear with the camber being off a tad. I dropped it another 2" with ingalls camber kit all around with another alignment now they're wearing evenly

Also with if were to go with a 1.70 in back and a 1.80 in front on 17" wheels do you think it will look ok?

it would look fine

2" drop with no camber kit, i was rear ended at low speeds, and i think my passenger side rear susp was bent a bit (it sits lower, + more camber)...and i still have no extra wear.....i might ad that im on "Touring Tires"...but hey, at least they yoko's...
