Default valve adjustment(labor)

ok, my car really needs a valve adjustment, and that is the only thing im afraid to do...now i remember it only being one hour labor(booktime/flatrate) yet now all the dealers by me want 110-150...i dont get it...but then again all the dealers in my area are owned by one group and i think because they made an monopoly they raised the prices on everything...

so is the labor rate only suppose to be 1 hour?

do it yourself, get some feeler gauges and the chilton for your motor, takes like an hour only if all the valves are outta wack, its really easy

.9 hrs technically x shop rate.

call them on it...i'm sure better business bureau would have something to say about that.

around here it is usually 79.95 since it doesn't require parts.

There's nothing special about feeler gauges. A $5-10 metric set from Pep Boys should do the trick. At that price you can get both straight and bent.

You only need to replace the valve cover gasket if its cracked or leaking.
