I went to take my parents car for an oilchange and the hood wont open. They broke the handle ( not a big deal) but i can still pull on the cable, no luck. Is there anyway for me to get under there. Its a 99 4 door LX. Any ideas? I was thinking to remove the bumber cover but then again there are about 6 bolts under the hood right on top of the grill. So let me know, ill give anything a try. Thanks again

 

try having someone push up and down on the hood while you pull the cable.

take a pair of vice grips to the cable where the latch broke and pull, should work

 

yea, i'd say have someone play w/ the hood while you are pulling on the cable...maybe jsut stuck on the latch somewhere...

 

Go back where you got the oilchange and tell them to fix it

 

It was broken before i brought to get the oil changed. I also had someone pound on the hood while i pulled with a set of vise grips. I think the ball at the end of the cable is broken so i need to figure out a way without involving the cable. Any ideas?

you could lift the car up and take off the mud covers off from under and try to stick you hand in and open the latch. but let the engine cool down first!
