since im a newb.. engine help
it might be a year or two down the road before my engine goes..it has about 160000 miles on it, but what engine would most people suggest putting into my car. im looking for something relitivly lower. i have my 92 civic stock dx engine in it right now. im really looking to upgrade to something stonger and better. i want to get eh v tec in there, and doesn't matter if its acura. any help? the way i look at it is i can start looking for the engine now and not have to be worryied about it when it does go. http://mto2005386.mypicgallery.com/mpg/Route.asp

dude i was in your same boat... 2 years ago.. feel free to IM me with questions... what i did is decide what i wanted... (to go fast).. to go bang for the buck all the way but not cheap where it counts.. (engine management)
i decided to go LS Turbo. mainly because my head needed a valve job and was about 200mi per qt of oil. (real bad) and needed a clutch.. so i did my homework and swapped in a used USDM LS from a local shop for 1200.oo.. plus some extras.. for the amount of money i would have had to spend, and the dificulty of doing a head/clutch repacement.. it was simply easier to do the whole LS swap.. and the 30% more power the LS has stock will make it seem quicker
if going to Bseries you need to get all this from the donor car:
Engine
Trans
Axles
ECU
All Engine mounts - (although i think you will use 2 Dseries on the lower front two because of metal bumps on the frame..)
shift linkage
throttle cable
(did i forget anything?)
oh yeah.. Cool ranch and Super nacho cheese dorito's.. cocktail smokies w/Ken Davis BBQ lots of pop.. no beer till you take it around the block and everything works good
and your going to want a tach.. i know your DX doesn't have one.. exaust will need to have a 3" extension welded in
if i was going to do it again... i would go with a new exaust setup when i did the swap.. the factory exaust is real restrictive
now i have been driving the ls swap for a year now... the car is parked for the winter and i'm reading up on uberdata.. come spring time i'm going to finally finish it off with the turbo setup.. (hopefully darton or benson bottomed )
I hope this helped a little.. of course if you have a thicker wallet you could start with a Gsr

Re: (MusclecarGuyhasHonda)
Sounds like great advice to me... then again I'm 16 and i do all my work myself. I personally though am building a B18C. Since you have it set as 1 or 2 years down the road you have plenty of time to save. If you don't want to get laughed at by some snob thinking his "Stang" is fast don't go cheap on stuff. Build the engine internally and run boost. If you get everything right you will need stronger axles, better tires, and a stong tranny... but you can bet no average Joe in a "Stang" will have the right to laugh at your "4 banger" anymore. Hell i don't see why they trash our Hondas anyway their "American Muscle" can't put out 150HP per Liter and the day they can... maybe they can talk... wait... Honda will be lightyears ahead by then. Oh and for engine management I like the AEM system or Hondata

Re: since im a newb.. engine help (TurboTagTeam)
well considering i just got the car like a week ago, i work 30 hours a week and goto school full time, i haven't had time to do anything to the car other than change the tires(snow) and add oil. its not the body that counts, its the engine. even a newb knows that. this was my gf cousin's car. he did everything u see, not me. he was killed in a moto accident about 4 months ago. im basically taking over what he started. i happen to like the body kit and the color, so its going to stay that way for awhile.
And thanks everybody, ill start looking around (junkyard..online) for the swaps. even if i get the engine now, its still better then letting it sit out in the cold and rain and leaveing the possibily of somebody else getting it.
