How to explain to someone the importance of lowering ur car if they are going strictly for drag..
I have a good friend who believes that lowering his car will not help him at all. I personally think that lowering the car will make it look better and im pretty sure that the lower ride will make ur times better. Im thinking the lower the car and stiffer ride will make less movement when he launches and therefore will give him more traction.

you will break more axles with the lower the car. yes, stiffer is better but you can get stiff without lowering it. personal, if its only a drag car, dont lower it, just get stiffer springs. check out boostedjeff's hatch. function over form.

You said lower, then started talking about stiffer...
Stiffer rear springs would probably help him, but no, he doesn't have to lower the car to accomplish that either. The typical car that's lowered for looks (as you're primarily describing) has typically hurt handling more than if they'd left it at a resonable height.

im not talking about slamming the car to the ground.. Im just talking about an inch maybe 1.5 inch drop and thats it with some really nice springs..
and this wouldnt produce any kind of benefit in the str8 away at the drag stip..

as long as its not over 3 in. or so its cool. Make sure to get a good suspension too

Snapping axles IMO depends mostly on the driving skills. Dont lower it to much that it looks overkill. I have some skunk2 drag launch springs 2 in. drop rear and 3 in. drop front stiff as hell

how much power are u running in ur car though. ... with his setup right now im sure those springs would do him justice.. the times we run here are about 1 sec slower then that at sea level.. were are a mile or so above sea level.. his best run is a 16.9 and he is already swapped and i showed the upgrades..he has.. my hatch with just a stock ls motor and I/E runs 15.8 but he is going turbo soon and is expecting .. to try and get some kind of pro out of his car.. and i support him.

There are other ways to accomplish the downforce needed or not needed for the mph you are looking for. Spring rates and shock dampners I believe to be first and foremost important in drag racing(suspension wise). Ride height and and aerodynamics come later when you really need to get ever mph you can.
