Help a guy out....... Please :)
Ok... So now i've ordered a Y8 head minus the valve cover, distributor, intake manifold, injectors, fuel rail, ecu, and throttle body.... The head will be put on my 99 civic cx with a d16y7 powerplant(hardly what you'd call a powerplant). I'm having trouble locating the rest of the parts. I called a local honda junk yard and got a quote for just a Y8 intake manifold... Guess how much?? $$250....... Yea sure I'll jump right on that one... But anyways, on topic.... What i listed above, thats exactly what i need to replace right? I have a feeling im missing something. If any one is around the gwinnett/atlanta, GA area with some parts i need let me know. (let me know if your not in the area but willing to ship
) Sorry for the long post, but thanks in advance to anyone who replies. Any help is appreciated!

As far as the head goes, you should be good. Make sure it has the knock sensor and the VTEC solenoid all intact.
For a Y8 manifold, look around here in the classifieds, I picked mine up for $50 + shipping.
You will need the ECU from an EX for sure, and I'm not 100% sure on the distributor. I think you can use the stock one you have now...
Do a search for "mini-me" and there is a post somewhere with a complete parts list to do this swap. Don't forget to select archive posts either.
Good luck.

Thanks for the help guys. Just wondering... would my y7 valve cover fit the new head? And also do i need a y8 timing belt?

Yes, your y7 valve cover will work just fine. YOu may also want to check out http://www.d-series.org (shamless plug). There are always y8 mani's for sale on our site

Do you have the injectors, fuel rail, and throttle body also? Get on aim and im at mp5o ... im still under noob restrictions. :/
You should be able to use your fuel rail and injectors from your Y7, I did at least.
As far as the throttle body I used my Y7 one with a little modification, or you can get a Y8 and use the throttle plate from it.
99hatch You're right, the knock sensor is on the block, not the head. :hammerhead:

hmm so could i just use the whole y8 throttle body or just the throttle plate... If you could, i'd like to hear about how you modified your y7 throttle body for it to work...
Edit: Marks off injectors, fuel rail from the list

When I used my Y7 throttle body, the only reason it wouldn't work is the hole where the throttle cable attaches. So, I drilled a hole in the throttle plate to make the throttle cable work.
If I remember right, the hole for the throttle cable on the Y7 is at the bottom of the plate (if you're looking at the throttle body from the front of the car head on). I made a hole near the top of the plate so the cable wraps counterclockwise around the plate at then attaches at the top.
Hope that desciption helps a little, wish I had a picture handy.

Thanks for the info ******. Do you think you could snap a few pics of it? Zeroice: Do you know if my y7 sensors will work or do i need the y8 ones too?
There are not a lot of "sensors" to swap over. You will find your Evap purge valve will bolt up to the y7 fuel rail if you remove the metal bracket that holds it, and that there is the same number of vacuum sources. Your y7 TB will control your idle, and your TPS and MAP which are on that TB, are the same as the y8.
Hmm... Do i need to buy new head bolts? or is it recommended? When i buy a head gasket i buy it for the y8 am i correct? Also if i purchase a bare y8 IM what sensors would i have to buy? Thanks for your time!
