I am planning on upgrading my suspension to a set of Sprint springs with my current KYB struts...Stock wise, right now I have noticed my car leans a little. What is really odd is that on the passenger side I can put 3 fingers in between the top of the tire to the fenderwell, and 2 on the driver side.
How can you distinguish the rears from the front???
Are there size diffs, marks, coil diameters?
HELP

OK..this is a good start. thanks....How do I measure them while mounted to the car? I counted the number of coils, but I think that's incorrect.
Do you know if they have different markings or any kind of distinguishing numbers anywhere...I think a shop i took my car to F'd it all up. This place was called Premiere autoworks in La Habra, Kennedy Nguyen was the owner...he's a cool cat, but who ever put the stocks with the new KYB struts on wasn't paying attention. About a year ago I noticed the car was leaning a little as I walked up straight to it. by that time they had already closed up shop/out of business.
If you read this..please bump

I think your springs should have the rates printed on the coils themselves, right? The stiffer springs will go up front, and the others out back.
The rear springs are not always longer, with my car the front springs are longer to make up for the weight of the engine.
The way I tell the difference with the front spings and the back spings is by looking at the first coil of each spring. The first coil would be the coil that rests in the strut mount.
The front first coil usually has a flat end. ex) 1st bottom coil: spring on the far left. The back first coil usually has a rounded end. ex) 1st topcoil: spring on the far right.
.

Ive noticed this for all the set springs Ive tried NSpeed and H&R. With coilovers you gotta check the number. Hope this helps
did you check if ur shocks are blown?? I ran KYB AGX adjustable shocks with H&R set race springs on my prelude I had a couple years ago. I set the stiffness to 2 all around and the 2 of the shocks blew in 3 weeks. I also experienced and uneven height as well.

thanks for the tip..I haven't had any problems with the struts themselves, there no tell tale leaks, the car doesn't bounce or feel mushy. The uneven look is lower on the driver side front to back and a little higher on the passenger side.

I think I will just wait and see when I get my new springs. Then I will know for sure.

(I have to Vouch for your info. I received my new set of springs - by Sprint)
You are right about the tapered coil on one set, the other two have a normal coil all the way. They do appear to be slightly different in size too. the tapered one is taller and I guess the rear is shorter.

After further review....The springs were set in place............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .............correctly. I am not sure still why though the car had a slight tilt....could be the age of the springs or the heavy *** driver..LOL
Anyway...Mods..if you need to remove this to save your hd space..feel free to close this up or archive it.
