VAFC??????
i was just wondering if this will benify from basic bolt ons like i/h/e. I was wondering wut are the advantages of this device? This is a vtec controller, the regular vtec setting isnt good enough? Would having a car pure stock benifit this or would you need a certain modifications to use this device....Ive heard that setting the vtec too low in low rpms is bad...i was wondering why? Shouldnt that be good, the earlier the better......thanks in advance
In my opinion if you don't have cams or other "big" or "expensive" investments...I don't believe that the VAFC is necessary b/c it is not a bolt on HP deal...it requires a good bit of tuning...as far as Vtec setting...if you set it too low it may cause damage to the cams due to lack of oil pressure etc...<---as I was told>....people usually raise they're vtec to 1) if they have cams...it gives them more mid range and the stock setting only hinders the duration of those cams etc. 2) hey sometime people like to save a lil more gas by not being in Vtec...so in other words...it's a good investment if you plan on spending money on other go fast goodies other than bolt-ons...best wishes
A VAFC can benefit a car with mild mods. Don't expect huge gains though. Setting the VTEC too low won't exactly be a good thing for your car. First of all, you'll probably be losing a lot of power.
for the amount of money spent on a VAFC and the needed dyno time...you can use else where for your vehicle if all you want to do is I/H/E bolt ons etc. BTW I/H/E= intake/Header/Exhaust...just in case
I agree that its not just a bolt on power adder since you do need dyno time to tune it, but with just the VAFC and an intake I made some good power. You can get one for $300 shipped so it wasn't a bad investment in my opinion.

How much work can you do to an engine and still effectivly tune with stock ECU and vacf. I guess I'm asking is with bolt ons, and mild (spec-a or equivilent) cams, are you really going to be able to find anymore power with an upgraded ecu then with vafc? thank you.

I believe so, but I don't believe that you will need the VAFC if you have a stand alone...b/c you will have more options and flexibility as far as where to set the fuel maps and vtec etc
Can you use a V-AFC with hondata or other standalones?

Stand-alone ECU systems eliminate the need for a V-AFC. Any decent stand-alone will allow much more tuning ability than a V-AFC or other fuel/vtec controller.

fyi: this guy got good results from the vafc for tuning his bolt-on itr...
