Any of you guys have an oil pressure gauge? Got a question...
When you hit VTEC, oil presure drops correct? What does the pressure build up to again by 8500?
Mine drops from around 80 PSI to 60 PSI when I hit VTEC and climbs to around 75 PSI by 8500 RPMs...does that sound right? I used to get around 85+ PSI at 8000+ RPMs without the VTEC head.
BTW: VTEC is fun
On stock SI cams it feels just as fast if not faster then before..and the stock idle is soooo sweet

Hmm.. weird. My B20VTEC is uauly around 70-75psi solid when I am on it, and when VTEC kicks in, it dips about 5psi and then comes right back to 70-75psi almost instantaneously.
What weight oil are you running? I am running 20w50 oil for now. Non-synthetic.
BTW, what's your oil pressure at idle?
I'm 20-25psi.

Im running 5W-30 non-syn. Oil pressure at idle is 15-20 PSI...around 5 PSI lower then the non-VTEC setup.
Would the Endyn PCV kit maybe cause lower oil pressure? Since the oil has to travel to catch can and back?

What size line did you use for the vtec oil feed?
Your pressure readings sound a bit low.

Oil doesnt tracel to the catch can? How can it not..its plugged into the rear of the block and oil travels through there.
I used -4an line and I have -3an going to the oil gauge.

The catch can is connected to the crankcase, not the oiling system....
odd, i dont know what would cause that kind of a pressure drop.
Oil level good?

Oh oops..I though oil traveled through that area (plugs on rear of block)
Yea I dont know, maybe something is up with my gauge? Even when driving at stead yRPM, it seems that the oil pressure will fluctuate 2-3 PSI up and down for some strange reason..very weird. It also seems to "stick" at times..like at 60 PSI..no matter if Im say at 3000 or 4000 RPMs.
I should remove the gauge and make sure it isnt clogged up or something...maybe with teflon tape or something.

Is there a reason I have to use a different line? Why is steel braided line bad?
The gauge used to work just fine...but it seems liek its acting weirder and weirder as time goes on.

is oil supposed to be in that line you use for the pressure gauge? Just wondering i installed it this weekend. First time and it started up with no leaks. I'll check it again in a couple of days and insulate the nylon wire.
Hmm, someone else told me yesterday that its better to use steel braided line instead of the nylon stuff. I really dont think it matters, like I said it used to not act "funny"...something else is probably going on.
