Default would thin oil cause low oil pressure?

thus causing vtec to crossover to lag or late.

I think it does, I used to run 5W-30 in my previous Civic, with turboed B18B, and the oil would get very hot and thin. At idle the oil pressure would be 0 psi. So I switched to 10W-40 and the pressure would be like 10 psi @ idle. HTH
