Default Head Unit intallation

Hi guys, I'm new here. I just had a question that I thought someone might know. I was installing a head unit on my friends 99 civic. I got everything installed ok, but when i finished, her tach and speedo don't light up. I don't know what to connect the illumination wires to, i tried power and it didn't do anything. I also checked the fuse and it was fine. Anyone have an idea on how to get the lights to light up again?

might of got something crossed up and put too much voltage to the tiny lil bulbs and burnt them out. also might of fried the wire somewhere and now you have a bad section of wire.

but i am counting on the bulbs
