how much juice on a ls/vtec??
whats up i have a fully built ls/vtec from the bottom up basically everything but sleeves.. using stock gsr cams but with a full valve train p&p, je 9:5:1 comp pistons, rings, eagle rods etc..... i was wondering how much of a shot of nitrous i should run on this motot with out having or causing problems i mean ive saw stock ls and or b series motors in general with 75 shot (wet) and they are fine.. i wouldnt do that to a stock motor but how high can i go on this motor i have..... if your going to flame my thread then dont even respond i dont really care what you have to say only the ppl that actually have an idea and or have had or saw a similar set up w/ nitrous please.
b18a block std bore
gsr crank and rods
je 12.5 to 1 comp pistons
eagle plus size rods
block guard
ported b16 head
buddy club bc4 cams
toda header
ported type r intake manifold
65mm throttle body
rc 310 injectors
car makes over 215whp all motor and is spraying a 150 shot
car has been running with this set up for about 1 1/2 years and is beat on a lot.
car has gone 12.49@108 all motor and 11.29@125 on spray
hope this can help a little

sounds good... i wasnt gunan go over 100 but i may just go high comp pistons with some after market cams with like a 50 shot... but i dont beacuse the motor is built already for low comp. i may just go for a 100 shot

Yeah, why the hell hold back? Go get a progressive nitrous controller, if you can make 400+ WHP on stock sleeves with a turbo, why not with juice.

yea but for some reason nitrous scares alot of ppl... like its known for blowing **** up... not to say turbo isnt or dosent but nitrous is a whole diff. thing and if not used properly can **** **** up even fully built motors... the only thing im worried about are the sleeves.. you think a block guard would help a little bit?? or should i just just stick it out with the stock sleeves

Dude no block guard needed!
He's my set up
B18a stock sleeves
SRP 10.5
Eagle Rods
Ctr Cams
JG Edelbrock manifold
Nos Direct port pro shot {120 shot}
APR Head studs [A must for 100 shot or more]
Runs great! Just Tune it and you will be fine

I would run a block guard in that motor especially since its over bore. Nitrous is safe as long as the tune up is good same thing with a turbo car. I would def. run an EGT gauge it will save your *** if anything does go wrong.
Ive heard people claiming 250 shot on b series but i dont see how is possible. Theres only so much nitrous you can cram into a motor before is puts out the fire or doesnt gain anymore and is just wasting nitrous.
I had a stock b16 in a ef hatch and started off with
.016 fuel and .024 nitrous went 12.35@110
.018 fuel and .026 nitrous went 12.18@112
.020 fuel and .028 nitrous went 12.13@114 (all using stock 240cc injectors)
I put about 30 bottles threw that motor before i broke the ring lands. The car was all glass and uncut 90 SI hatch with one seat, dash, panels and carpet.

If you can hammer a 700+ horsepower shot of nitrous into a V8 car, 250 is totally possible on an I4 car. Dave King or somebody else runs a mod motor Ford (4.6L DOHC) in one of his race cars, it only makes like 390 RWHP on motor but he hits it with 650+ horsepower worth of nitrous to be competitive.

Lets say the v8 motor is 5x bigger than our gsr. We have a 100 shot, they have a 500 shot. If we tryed a 250 it would be like them doing a 1250 shot.

yea.. well i mean the motor i have is built to take some abuse... so maybe i will just go with a 100 shot for now see how it reacts or runs... and then go up to a 125 tops... it should still make some good #'s for a daily driver..... if not i am just going to swap the pistons for high CR. and get some stage 2 cams or something.

5 times? It's a 4.6 litre motor. 2.5 times larger. You should look at it based on nitrous per cylinder, not nitrous per displacement.

i had a 8 fogger set up at one time. this was a gsr motor with 11 to 1 compression and some skunk stage 2's. never ran at the track but i had both set of foggers maxed out. i would spray the first 4 from 1st to 3rd then from 3rd and up i would hit the other 4. so figure each was spraying about 165 plus the motor was making 190hp to the wheels. this was on a stock bore stock sleeve motor. lasted for a pretty long time. i went crazy and added a single fogger and it couldnt take it...
