Default Octane fuel for 13:1

hey guys, i just finished building my motor and i was wondering if 93 octance fuel should be sufficient for 13:1 compression, or if i need to put octane boost in also. I will be driving this daily so i just wanted to know if pump gas would work, i have heard both sides that it would work fine, and that it wouldnt work......thanks

You should be able to pull it off with standalone and some good tuning.

What pistons?...I run 13:1 on 91-93...w/ dist. timing set @ 16 deg. just watch for pinging and have some one set your timing correctly for you...if you don't know how...check your plugs...after a 1st gear pull and etc. best of luck

High compression engine w/ high octane fuel is more prone to detonation. This is what i've learned.

How do you figure?

The whole purpose of high octane is that it's harder to ignite.

With the right pistons and headwork 13:1 is easy but you need the right pistons and headwork. A stand-alone fuel magement sytem helps too.

With good timing and fuel maps you shouldn't have any problems running 13.1:1 on 93 octane...I know of a few people locally that are running high 12:1, low 13:1 on the lovely 91 octane here in California.

Well for 13:1 compression i would hope that you would want to run 93 + a lil octane boost. **** with that C/R i would run at least C14 race gas with ur ignition timing dialed down...

C-Speed Racing runs 13.7:1 on 93 octane I believe..but ignition timing is 12 degrees I think.

in Australia we get 92(std) and 98(premium) octane fuels.

im not sure if the rating system is the same, but what C/R could be safely run on 98 octane with timing at 16'?

i guess its more than 13:1?

you can also get 100 octane fuel at most tracks over here...but cant run legally on hte street with it.

not sure if this is helping so ill shut up now.

t..

OH YEAH - i all was going to say that octane boosters are a poor supliment for good tuning!!!

In order for them to run the normal 18 degrees timing all that they would have to do is retard the ignition curve by 6 degrees across the entire map, don't think that it's all that hard with the Hondata.
As I said, with tuning you can do almost anything.
