Default over rev do to miss

i missed a gear yesterday and the car over reved. it was the first time i have ever done that to this motor. i guess i shouldn't be playing around anymore.
anyways...i was a little worried cause my rpms went above 9k on a stock bottom jdm gsr motor. when i got home, the car wasn't acting any different and it drove home just fine. idle was still the same, idling at 1k and no idle jumping around. temp stayed the same as usual, no smoke out the exhaust, no knocking, oil pressure was reding perfect at idle.

i went a head and did a compression test today and i got 210 across the board.

so everything should be fine right? is there anything else i should do?

thanks

yeah...it was like 210-212 across the board.

i was just wondering if i would need to do like a valve job or something just to make sure they didn't get out of adjustment or something.

try and be more judicious on your 3-4 shift. try and pull it down and away from you so you dont hit 2nd. it happens to all of u$ until we learn. have fun and consider yourself lucky

Come on you sissys, My bone stock USDM GSR got shifted at like 8900 every gear everytime I was track and the motor was just fine. The only time you really have to worry is if it went over 10K then you will bend some valves. Don't even worry about it the motor will be perfectly fine. Have fun................

I don't understand. If you just missed 4th how the hell can you over rev ?? I mean than the car is neutral and at wot so you just bouns of the rev limiter so you can't over rev ???

He obviously has a chipped ECU smart guy and prolly was power shifting. Not to many people have factory ECU's with rev limiters

power shifting is oke but you got to have a rev limit

no need to worry. stock bottom end can handle it on occasion. however, a soft touch rev limiter would be cheap insurance.

Can some one explain how people over rev when they miss shift. So from third to fourth and just miss it NOT come in second. If everything is oke you should just bounce off the rev limiter, right ???

id be more concerned with the valve train binding (springs) or a valve bending VS worrying about the engine internals. If you dont hear any valvetrain noise (clicking or ticking), and you dont see any smoke exiting the exhaust, I wouldnt worry about it.

i'm sure it hit 10k, but it was for like 2 seconds or so. right when i mis shifted, i let off the gas so its not like i left the rpms up at 10k for a period of time.

i did a compression test and the numbers came out good. i hear no valve train noise either. my oil pressure is still good also.

my friend bent like 6 valves when he missed a gear, so i know what a car sounds like with bent valves and my car doesn't sound like that.

i wasn't too concerned about bent valves, i was more concerned about my block.
i would rather have bent valves than a spun bearing.

good think everything is okay though. i will stop messing around
