Default queastion for those of you with a 4.7 final drive

i have a 93 coupe with a b16 and a type r tranny with a 4.4 final drive. i was thinking of upgrading to a 4.7 final drive, the car is my daily driver and i drag race it on weekends. i was wondering what rpm you were at in 4th gear at about 100 mph, cuz i'm at almost 7k at 100 now with the 4.4, and i dont want to shift to 5th in the quarter. also what rpm are you at at 80mph in 5th gear, just getting an idea of highway gas milage

Simple just add 7% to your current rpms.

Use this link to calculate speeds as per gearing:

And since it's Hybrid related, please use the Hybrid forum from now on.

i read almost every one of them, and they said that at 80 your at about 55-5600 rpms. that answers that question, but it doesnt answer my question about the 4th gear at 100mph. thats waht i'm worried about most, i dont want to shift to 5th in the quarter

Use the friggen calculator

Or at least provide wheel size if you want someone to spoon feed you.

Here's an educated guess with a 93 coupe (don't know what type of coupe) and guessing the tire diameter at 22.8":

with the 4.7 JDM FD

4th gear @8k rpm - 102.8mph

5th gear @8k rpm - 133.7mph

5th gear @ 4,800 rpm - 80.2 mph

Your worried about doing 100 mph??? maybe you should use your head and try to keep it by staying with in the posted speed limits?

But if you don't care then I certainly don't care.

Did you ever hear Opie say GTFO?

Whaoh there big fella.

He did specifically mention that he drag races (hopefully legally at a strip) and is concerned about speeds in 4th and 5th gears and didn't want to have to shift up and possibly lose time.

He's clearly talking about drag racing... I guess you were off searching for the thread he should have found to actually finish reading the post

With a B16 (***cough cough Type R forum y0!***) - you have nothing to lose with the 4.7 since you make nothing for torque to begin with.

i know it is the type r forum, but i figured since the 4.7 comes in the type r that maybe it would be a good place to post it. sorry. and i did figure out by using the link that guy sent me. sorry that i said that it didnt work but by the time that i looked at the faq link and posted there was like 3 posts ahead of me so i didnt see the other ones. my bad.anyways, thanks for the info. and by the way it was drag racing at the track.

It's not stock on the USDM R which is the same 4.40 btw.
