Cant remove Key from ingnition cylander?
Hello everyone. I hope this is not in the wrong spot. My friend has a 2002 Civic Coupe, Lx I think. For some reason she can remove the Key from the ignition cylinder. She has tried, turning the car back on, off, jiggle it some etc. with no success. To try and diagnose the problem, I had her disconnect the power lead to the battery and try to remove the key and the key came out. Is there some type of standard security feature that will do this? I say standard because she didn't get any security system option or after market system.
She is bringing it over tonight, so I can try and figure it out. Any help you guys could give would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Drew

just one less step in starting the car...nice mod! is the steering column locked? by the way, this is the wrong section for her car, but i'm sure everyone will try to help. post in the civic forum too, maybe it's happened to someone in there.
You can lock and unlock the steering column, it doesn’t seem to mater; it still won’t release the key. I apologize for putting this in the wrong forum, but I’m not a Honda owner and quite frankly these chassis code confuse me
I think hers would be an EM(2 maybe?) and I don’t see that any where here?
Thank you for your help. Drew
