After driving our '03 Civic around town a bit, we parked in the garage like normal. Except that we can't turn the key to the "0" position in order to remove the key.

Yes, the car is in Park.
Also noted that the car will not start in either the Drive or Reverse gear as normal. Don't know if that tidbit would help.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

is the steering locked? try moving the steering wheel left and right and try to remove the key at the same time. hope that works

I have seen a similar problem a couple different times in automatic accords.
Each time the problem was in the shifter assembly.

Anything from the cable needing adjusting, to the whole assembly being replaced.
If you are not comfortable tearing apart the shifter assembly, I would recommend taking it into the dealership.
