So many variables.

Experience and Expertise of the shop.

Is the block already prepped? I.E. Bored and Honed

Do you need the pistons pressed onto the rods?

DO you need the old rod bolts pressed out and new ones pressed in?

Do you need the rotating assebly zero balanced?

Answers these questions and we can provide a better guesstimate.

hey watsup all....i'm actually in the proccess of rebuilding my block right now. i have a b18b1. its gonna cost me $850, but thats with me taking the block out and bringing it to the machine shop. i'm going with OEM oversized ITR pistons&rings which cost $200, all new bearings which cost roughly $120, and a complete gasket set for $200. the rest is labor to disamble & reasemble the block ($120), pin the pistons and align the rods ($36) , boring the sleeves ($80) , and steam clean ($48). i don't plan on reving any higher than 6800rpm so i didn't balance the crank which would of cost $125 dollars more. well i hope this give you an idea of the cost.

theyre better be an expertise to do this shesh...here:
disassemble the motor block, old rods out and pressed new rods in, no bored or honed, yes..rotating assebly zero balanced and install the pistons, measured piston to wall clearance.... reassemble block...

Dissasemble- Does this mean you are bringing him a bare shortblock?

Press pistons off of Rods $10
Press New pistons on Rods- $20
Zero Balance rotating assembly- $100
Reassemble block- (Totally depends on the expertise of the builder) $100-$300.

in maryland the most charge around 500-600 bucks for a regular build(if you supply parts), meaning disassembling everything, boreing out the walls, balancing rotating and reinstallation. Ive seen some shops around here charge as much as 1800 bucks though which seems way to much for a rebuild if you ask me.
