Default Car will NOT start - slowly died on the freeway...

I was driving on the freeway, the car stuttered for a bit, and it seemed as if i had lost all power (as if i was in neutral), even though i was able to rev the car for a bit before i eventually shut it off. It now cranks, but will not turn over.

So far there's spark, but i don't know if it's adequate. A screwdriver was stuck into the spark plug and placed near a ground--and it arc'ed.

As for fuel, the fuel pump turns on, you could hear it through the gas door. And if the fuel pump were a problem, i don't think i'd be able to rev the car when it was in the process of slowing down.

Compression - compression was tested to be alright about a year ago, but who knows now.

Air - all good.

Anyways, i noticed a few months ago that there was a squeaking noise coming from the distributor. It would make the noise sporadically. Now, i'm thinking it'd be the bearings, but i've heard that you'll see red dust or whatnot in the cap if the bearing has gone out. But, the car is still sparking...

So what do you guys think?

Well, i opened up the cap the day it broke down and everything looked to be fine. I didn't see any discoloring, dust, or anything out of place at all.
