Default Newbie question...

This is actually a question for my friend. He has an 01 Civic LX and wants to get his exhaust redone. I suggested he get a new header, custom piping and a high-flow muffler. He's pretty much clueless when it comes to cars. Now, I drive a domestic car, and I know that if I were to get new headers, piping, and high flow muffler, the exhaust note would be a bit deeper, which is what he wants. Being that his car is a I4, I don't know if doing said mod would create a low exhaust note. What he doesn't want, is to the exhaust, then get a higher exhaust note. SO.. my question is, have any of you guys done a header swap + custom piping & high-flo muffler and accomplished a lower, not higher, exhaust note??

TIA

I'm a big fan of the custom piping option. I've used 2.25" piping, a resonator, and some form of high flow exhaust. By adding the resonator, you remove all of the high pitch rice from the exhaust note, it will be much quieter with the resonator, but he won't attract too much attention either. Have you buddy go to a custom exhaust shop and just start asking questions.

Good luck
