Default Good price for timing belt?

I dont feel like doing the timing belt myself, so I called a honda-only shop here in town. They quoted me $492.00 for timing belt, balancer belt, all new seals (cam, crank, every other one they can get to). And, they use all genuine honda parts. Good price?

The Foriegn car place I trust here told me it would be around 1K, since they change the timing belt, water pump, and some other stuff. I dont know what the dealer would charge, but I dont trust the dealer here.

My sister has a Camry and it was around 1K and it was done at the dealer.

There was a thread on this a while ago. To do a timing belt and water pump, I saw most places charging 700 bucks on average.

Well in that case looks like I got a damn good deal. This work included the water pump, and I didnt even know! $493.00 for everything below. Heres a copy of the invoice. These are all genuine Honda parts, too! Damn... if you live on the California central coast go to this place... its called Landis Automotive and they only do Hondas and Acuras.

Thats looks pretty good to me as long as everything is OEM Honda. I remember seeing people on here saying they made more.

What all was replaced? And were all the parts OEM Honda? Doesn't sound like it. $100 for the pump and both the timing belt and balancer shaft belt seems kinda low.

All parts listed were replaced, and yes, this particular shop only stocks Honda OEM parts, and buys them in large, large quantities. They get really good prices.

oh,sorry. My question about what parts were replaced and if they are OEM wasn't directed towards you. That was directed towards ProjectDarkBlack.

To you, I was just saying that the $493 price sounds like a good price.

well then you can't really compare the two since he had OEM parts quoted and you didn't.

497 plus seems really good considering parts are expensive. I know for a fact here in my parts dept at Honda of Pocatello, I discount parts a certain percentage if the customer is purchasing a large work order. My 90K's usually end up around 450 to 500 depending on the car. We also throw in a free oil change and 110 point inspection. Then, if any other parts are needed further down the road, we give the customer a coupon for liek 15-20% off.
