Car running cooler than normal?
Yes, it is cooler outside, but it was in the high 30's 2 weekends ago here and my thermostat was at normal temp, just a little lower than halfway. Saturday night, it was only one quarter of the way up. When I would turn off the heater, it would climb to its normal temp, but turning the heater on made it drop quickly, really quickly. It wasnt cold enough outside to do this, it has been in colder weather and not acted this way. Car has never done this before. I checked the coolant level obviously, and its fine. What should I check?

Thermostats have been known to stick open. I haven't looked at my water temp gauge recently (useless piece of crap) but my oil temp only made it up to 150 degrees this morning (20 minute commute).
Using the heater will definitely cool the coolant.

Just changed my tstat last month. It was stuck open and had would not reach optimal temp, ever...especially on the highway.
New one = driving 250 miles in single digit temperatures, no problems.
