Default Vtec problem

ok well i searched and i couldnt find anything quite like my problem....i have a 2000 si with just a intake, vtec kicks in @ about 5500, then when it hits 7000 it shuts down for a second, then starts to go again, sometimes vtec wont even work in 1st-2nd gear, i dont know if its a sticky vtec solenoid or what, any help would be appreciated...

if you have a helms i would go through the vtec soleniod diagnostics section and make sure everything checks out good...i would also change your oil and filter and see if that helps...another thing to do would be to drop the oil pan and make sure it's not gunked up and messing with your oil lines...just some ideas

Yeah, in the vtec solenoid there is a gasket you can replace and there is a screen that is part of that gasket, like a filter. Use the manual to check it out. How's your oil pressure?

you can get that filter/gasket for the vtec solenoid from the dealer for about $14
