Default //\\can i duplicate gains from a jrsc with a mild all motor set up?

ok i have a b16a3 (44k miles) and im at the point where I want to start planning out my motor set up.

My initial plan was a good i/h/e set up and the 6psi JRSC ~ 180-190whp

my question is with a good i/h/e and I/M, T/B, cat, skunk2 stage 2 cams, springs, and retainers, Will i be able to come close to 180whp I would get from the SC?

I plan to do more autox than drag so 170-190whp will be plenty also this is my daily driver.

also consider that I want a hassle free set up that will endure daily driving. I also don't want to have to have allot of little things that I have to pay to keep the set up running good. Id rather spend my money on my suspension.

thanks yall

With tuning you could mix All motor and FI together. Look up Tony The Tiger on this site, he made that very clear after doing 12psi on a 11.5 compression ratio, ITB motor.

What have you thought about for tuning because fuel is a big factor in a setup like this. For one, I prolly wouldnt go with a skunk2 cam but more of a boost cam. Second, I would definately consider some fuel mods/tuning if you want some good numbers.

could you point me in the right direction?

what fuel mods would be needed?
what would be a better street cam for my application?

any other help would be great.

btw i plan to have the car dyno tuned after all the work is complete what fuel management ext. will i need to have the car properly tuned?

dump the b16....get 1.8 or bigger for an allmotor build

you will not replicate power of a supercharger with b16 MILD build

For fuel mods, preferably a walbro 255lph fuel pump, DSM 450's with an injector box, fuel rail and FPR will work for the fuel system.

I would run a WEB cam but thats just me. Some people dont like em but I do.

For tuning I would go with hondata as stated above

most of you say im not gunna get the power i want all motor so help me add to this set up:

JRSC
what clutch?
what fly wheel?
is it unsafe not to upgrade the head?

is my current I/h/e set up ok with the jrsc aem v2/edelbrock 4-2-1/greddy evo?

I hear the jrsc really has just abot everything i need other than the clutch. But then i hear that ill need all sorts of other things can someone tell me what is REALLY needed in adition to the 6psi jrsc?

please tell me what i have to buy not what i should buy if i want big power. im not looking for a 250hp car just a reliable 190hp.

The big thing to remember is that with an all motor setup you're not going to get the TORQUE you would get with a JRSC. As far as setup goes, any decent performance clutch will do fine, any flywheel will be fine stock or lightweight, really doesn't matter cause you're FI. No need to upgrade the head unless you're running cams that require valvetrain upgrades. Your current I/H/E is just fine with your desired setup. The JSRC kit DOES come with everything you need and a clutch isn't absolutely required but is "recomended". Just buy the kit, go bolt it on and have fun and don't worry about all the other wanna be techies that think you need to build your motor with everything under the sun in order to run a JRSC.

Ps... another thing. If you are using a JRSC, I would look into a Kamikaze Header.

Just bolt it on & enjoy it for a while. Look @ it htis way... If you build N/A, by the time U get it to the power U really like, it ain't gonna be cheap @ all! I put a used SC on my R & I love it. I have not yet gotten it tuned but it's still fun to drive. Someone else made a suggestion getting a Kamikaze header... This is also good advise. I put one on after having a JDM DC Sports header & even untuned U can tell a difference from idle to redline. I personally think the JRSC is too costly new but they are more affordable use & can be found in good shape. If this give U a glimmer of hope for your B16 listen. A friend of mine has a 99 Si Civic with a JRSC w/ air filter bolted right to the T/B. Endyn stepper pulley @ 10psi. JDM DC Sports header, Hi-flow cat & N1 catback. All else is stock, even the ECU. I have the exact same ste-up except w/ a test pipe inline & a Kami header. Boost @ 4.5psi & I can't quite keep up with him! Hope that helps U a bit. Peace!!!

I would run the JRSC just because not only will you make really good hp you will make a lot more torque then you would with building up the motor.. so my vote goes to JRSC

One other thing I forgot to mention to get some additional torque. U can install an ATS 4.92 final drive in the tranny as opposed to the stock 4.40 F/D. It's a 10% underdrive from stock & if U don't mind the motor screaming a bit U can get the Cusco 5.11 F/D. But U had better be prepared to shift quick!

The kamikaze is nice but I have heard the fitment is really poor. I did not know there was a performance difference between the kami and the jdm dc header. In addition to the JR unit you can add a cartech FMU, a BTC, and a map controller, just to be safe. If you buy everything used it will be a lot cheaper than hondata.

On the fitment issue of the Kami header, My muffler guy had to cut the down pipe just below the collector & reweld it so it would line up w/ the test pipe. It was off a couple of inches. As for a comparison between the Kami & the DC JDM header, I had the DC prior to the Kami & I could tell a power increase from idle to the rev limiter. I'm sure it'll be much better when I get it tuned though. Whats strange is it's not quite as loud w/ the Kami as it was w/ the DC.

In reference to the fitment issues with the Kami header: I had no fitment issues whatsoever, but I have a type-r on my gsr. The only mod it needed was a bracket welded onto the downpipe for support. On another note, I too am planning to run a JRSC, and I am thinking about getting the big boost kit for my gsr. Currently my setup is AEM CAI/Kami/type-r cat/custom 2.5" piping with a flowmaster super40. I also have some little stuff like NGK wires, NGK Iridium IX's, AEM fuel rail, skunk2 short shifter, struts/springs (koni yellows/neuspeed race springs) just to give you an idea. As neutral parties do you guys see any advantages/disadvantages to my idea that I may be missing? I realize that the JRSC is pretty expensive, but would it really be worth it in the end to buy some of the parts separately such as the s200, injectors, and the smaller pulleys? And if I were to buy a used JRSC what should I look for to make sure I get a "good" used one? And finally, what other suggestions do you have that will add more low/mid hp/tq to my setup? Thank you very much.

I forgot to mention that I'm looking to get >250 hp. I would like 300, but I don't know if I can budget it at this time.
