hks ss bov question for the f/i know it alls....
im thinking of getting a hks ss bov for my girls wrx, however im not sure if this bov is a atmospheric or recirculating bov...can anyone help me out...
and i can deal w/o the flames on how i dont need it, she wants it and thats the bottom line....so please any info would be helpful...thanks

agreed. it is either way, i have friends with hks ss, t-xs rfl, and the greddy type s. all open to the atmosphere.
if it didnt come w/ the adaptor plate would it jsut be a universal that would have to eb welded on fmic piping? or is there a way to install w/o recirc adaptor to stock top mount? i have a stock top mount and want recirc..ive seen the ones with the adaptor, but i thought it was just so you could just bolt it up instead of welding....???
will it hurt to have a nonrecirculating bov? ive heard that itll make the car run too rich..is that true?? do you suggest getting recirculating one liek the type s?
If you recirculate your bov you won't hear the bov pop would you?
since it's going back into the turbo.
And I don't see why you'll run richer by letting it open into the atmosphere. It should make any differnce.
Factory turbo systems have to be use recirculating bov to meet EPA regulations. Since the blow off may release harmful particles into the air.
But what do I care my bov is released into the atmosphere so I can here the psshhh....and I have a freeflowing racing cat too for less back pressure.
My car and so many other tuner's cars are EPA...No..No...
ahhaha
And the Greddy Type S is designed best to be released into the atmosphere.

ok, well does anyone have any idea why someone would say 100%atmo would make my car run richer and f it up?? so its ok for my engine to run an hks ss bov?

why would unwanted back pressure air make you run richer....makes no sense.
they are retards and have no idea about turbo systems.
if anything recirculating will make you more lean..since the air is going back into your system than being spit out since your engine doesn't need it.

And I'm guessing they must be EPA lovers to tell you that...or mechanics that don't want to break EPA regulations...so many mechanics around here tell me they have to stick to regulations when giving adivce, but I see them with there mustangs & Trans AM with freeflowing exhausts that is loud *** hell.
And remember guys blow off air is unwanted air. Your throttle plate is closed for a reason...to stop anymore air to enter and that air has to be vented to somewhere that's why BOVs were created.
And fyi why do you not see BOVs on turbo charged automatic engines...because the engine is never in neutral and the rpm doesn't take a nose dive to switch gears..

My buddy with a mazdaspeed protege went with an HKS SS and he was having problems with the car bogging out many times. His car (and many of the MSP guys) were having this same problem. I'm thinking that it causes to go more rich because the air that should be recirculated is being vented and there would still be the same amount of fuel, so the a/f would be more rich.
anyway, one of my buddies is running an HKS SS on his WRX and he has not had any complaints. I'm not sure if it's recircluated, but I'll check on that, but knowing him, he wouldn't recirc it!
hahaha, anwyay, they do make a recirc kit for it, so why not buy it and then try it out, worst comes to worst, you'll need to buy the recirc kit.
