ssautochrome manifold on low boost? safe
i read that alot of people have cracked, and warped (or whatever'd) there ssautochrome manifolds. the kit seems pretty cheap, and with that i know it has cheap parts. im still in the planning stages, but i know i want to turbo my d16y7. i only want to run low boost (for now ), around 5-6psi. would this manifold be safe? im on some what of a budget, but if this manifold is fine and can handle low boost, would YOU get the manifold? what would you buy? would like to keep the bill under $1000. thanks.

not agian........... its not how much boost you run that makes it crack its the fact that its a cheap POS and it cracks because of how much the turbo weighs and isnt braced right and the vibrations of the motor and I know there are going to be people that say "well mine is fine after suck and suck miles" be safe and buy a blox manifold or something along those lines if your on a budget

definitely do not get that manifold because it is a piece of **** and will crack and fall apart, no matter what boost you run
and the wastegate placement sucks ***** and does not control boost
i had one and it cracked in half and fell apart in a matter of a few days

Someone PM the guy from Burns Stainless Steel and ask him if when they make their 16 gauge(.065") manifolds do they suggest bracing the turbo at the block so it can be held entirely by the weight of the brace and the manifold has no downward force from the turbo on it.
I gaurentee they will say the manifold should be braced.
Do this with a SSAC and it will be way better than a log manifold. (simple basic laws of flow dynamics and thermal conductivity will tell you this)

I have read every search on SSAUTOCHROME and what needs to be done is weld a brace to hold the wastegate in 2 different areas. Then have a brace between the bottom of the turbo and the Downpipe and brace it to the block. I seen the pics on here and it looked good like it should hold fine. The guy said he had no problems after doing this. Make sure on the end of the downpipe you use a flex pipe "the piece that looks like mesh in a way" and you can buy that at a exhuast place. Also if you can bore out the wastegate inlet from what they said also. How much I'm not sure exactly but that's what was said they might just mean a little. If this is all done then you should be fine. It sounds like a lot but it don't seem to be that bad. Good luck
