Anyone have a motor built by ericks racing?
That answer could differ from person to person. But Acouple of years ago I worked at a shop where my boss paid over 8,500 for one of Erick's motors, it took him over 8 months to receive it, then when we got it in the head was still untouched not even a light p&p it had the same stains as when we sent the head to him, it had a stock head gasket on there, so it all depends on who you ask. But in my opinion they are way over priced for what you get
there's nothign wrong with a stock gasket....
i prefer HP's myself....but stock is perfectly fine
and for $8500, did he pay to have any headwork? i mean, $8500 wouldn't have covered my build..........so it might not have covered his for a bottom end and headwork

Let me see the block with sleeves and bore around 2500, stock gsr crank, custom made pistons which I own now 600-800, Eagle rods 350.00, it did come with springs/retainers and cams which that was around 1500-1600. That's around 6 grand and I said that he paid at least 8500 for it so where's the rest of the money going?

But that's just what happened to us, but that's not to say that other people've had better luck with his motors. And I'm sure there's people out there that are very happy with what they got from him.
for $8,500 ill build you a very nice motor makeing you 250 or even more Whp NO LESS with all your bills so u can see where your money going and if you sell it you have all the papers for the motor and all its work
One of my friends had an engine built by Erick's racing.
My friend is competent enough to assemble the engine himself but he did not want to chance anything so he had a "professional" do it.
He paid them to assemble a b18c5 top to bottom for him.
Specs:
eagle rods
11.5:1 roller-waves 82mm
Toda B's
Toda valve springs
Port-flow retainers
Port-flow Head work
Spoon oil pump
Spoon clutch and pressure plate
New ITR valves
New B18c block
New B18c crank
New oem bearings
He spared no expenses bought all new seals, gaskets, pumps, keepers, belts, ect.
Erick's racing just had to bore out the block to 82mm and assemble it. It was still very costly.
After my friend got the engine back he installed it and it fired up no problem. However it was leaking oil from somewhere under the timing belt cover. So he drove the car to Erick's and asked him for some help and to fix it. He was turned away! He had just spent over a grand to have them assemble the engine and tune a rom for him and they turned him away!!!
So from then on the car set for about a month until we could pull the cover and inspect what was wrong.
The oil leak was very small. Like when you have a bad cam seal so the car was still driveable.
Before we were able to check the car out he took it out for a spin because he had not driven it in a while. He accelerated and the car reached approx. 5k and dropped a valve. vrooom click
Well we found out what the oil was coming from. The large allen set screws that hold the shafts for the followers in were loose(finger tight).
He called Erick's and was refused help again. The block fared pretty good but it has to be sleeved now. The head was ruined and you can see through the one piston.
give me a minute and Ill load a photo on my imagestation account.

This is the only pic he took. The head's combustion chamber looks like someone hit it a couple hundred times with a waffle faced framing hammer. Tom at portflow said it wouldint be cost effective to repair it.
Edit: By some act of god that eagle rod didn't have one scratch on it.

Didn't even hold the door open for him on the way out.
We took the block to Earl for inspection and quotes. So once the hollidays are over he is going to start over.

That is unfortunate you did not get what you were expecting but I have to ask....
Why would you pay someone without knowing exactly what you were getting. If I dropped $8500 to someone I would want to know what was being done to the block, what piston manuf. what cams, what springs, what type of head work, what type of bearings, you know a typical blue print for the build. It sucks that Ericks took advantage of you if in fact he did..... but your boss also needs to be more intelligent about his purcahses.
