looking to boost 10-15psi daily...b18 or b20 block?
im wondering what my starting point should be? this setup is going in my 91 4dr integra. its going to be my everyday car NOT A TRACK/RACE CAR.
do i start off with a ls block that i can get from junkyard for $60. or do i start off with a crv block that runs $200up?
if i bore the ls to a 2.0, will it be as strong as a stock b20?
and im only doing a mild build...rods, pistons, & ported head or vtec head(no vtec).
also im pretty sure that the vtec heads flow more than the ls/rs heads so would it be wiser to just run a vtec head instead of dealing with machine work.
im only looking to make 275-325whp.
EXPERIENCED BUILDERS PLEASE HELP......i DONT need he said/she said. im looking for knowledge from people who are running this stuff right now.

Personally id go the B18 route. I have a B20B right now and am regretting it slightly due to its shitty sleeve design.
If you are using aftermarket rods and pistons there is no reason to bore for your goals.
Id just get 81.5mm pistons (it will increase your disp a little, and still gives you some room if you want to do another rebuild on the OEM sleeves.).
Many people have surpassed your goals on just rods and pistons. A few have gotten 300+ whp on a stock block LS.
My .02

Do a B18 block B20 blocks you will have to sleeve since they can't handle much boost.Vtec heads flow better then an LS head but if you were to build an LS head they can flow very well also.If you had a built bottom end on a B18 you could run 15psi all day long with a good tune.Theres guys on here that run 15psi on stock internals with just fine fine tunes.Me personally I would get a B18b and boost the **** outta it they an handle boost no problem.Do a search and you will see for yourself there guys hitting 300whp and more on B18b's with stock internals it's all about Managment.
Go with an LS block and vtec head, and run vtec, no reason not to. With a decent turbo setup and good tuning/fuel management you could reach your goals with stock rods/pistons. If you don't mind spending the extra money, go ahead and buy some forged rods/pistons for a little extra insurance. You can't bore out the LS block to a 2.0L unless you sleeve it, which will not be necessary at all for your goals. Don't bother with the B20 block, the sleeves are different than other b-series sleeves and and weaker, it won't be safe with a decent amount of boost.
if you are lookin to boost stock sleeves you should go LS...
there are a bunch of people on here boostin stock ls's (like fully stock) that are around 300whp..
if you are going to run pistons/rods.. set your goals higher... like 400-450whp
valvesprings are something to look into when building the LS head

yeah they are right just stick to the LS block I had an crv block at first and my sleeves cracked with just 9psi making 278whp its not worth it b/c you be rebuilding again in the near future.

You can make that power with stock ls. I have seen plenty of dyno sheets here on forums of people making 300ish whp on stock ls.
ls it is....the reason i was gonna do a build tho is because i just bought the car and it has 170k mi, i think they were all hiway cuz the car still feels peppy but i wanted to have the insurance of another block waiting to go in.
so will a vtec head flow as much as a ported and worked ls head?
or should i look for a worked vtec head? that will probably flow more than a worked ls head?

If you're only looking for 275-320 whp, go with the LS block, get a nicely sized turbo, get it tuned, and your goals should be within reach.
lots of guys have been doing very well on just the stock LS entirely. If you are willing to deal with all the added issues of going LSvtec, it can have it's own gains above the LS, but there are issues of cost and what not.
Search Raunch, he's a "stock" DA integra guy. Friend of mine with a nice LS set-up.
Enjoy the build whatever way you go.
