We just swapped in my JDM B18b into my 92 dx hatch. I'm using a GSR ecu, with a GSR obd1 Harness, harness and everything bolts on fine when you turn key car gets power and cranks. It wants to start and sounds really strong but it's getting no spark from the distributor to the wires.

The car previously was turbo with SAFC-II installed. Is the ECU wiring messed up perhaps? any input would be greatly appreciated the old car has a resistor box but I'm thinking it was for the 550cc injectors since obd1+ cars have them integrated into the ECU.

 

Since your not getting any spark, check everything that is spark related. For example: spark plugs, wires, dizzy, main relay, ecu,

 

So... you're not getting compression OR spark?

 

are the injectors stock? if it is, then you don't need the resistor box. cause the resistor box only work with peak hold type injectors. as for the no spark problem. you need to check all your grounds. check for power to the dizzy...ect

 

car gets power, we cracked open dizzy and it seems fine, there is no spark from wires we touched them to metal etc, no spark but car has power bumps omeone help, do you guys think it is my ecu wiring?

No one knows what your problem is. So you have no compression, or you have no spark? And you have power to the dizzy or no?

Distributor.

Compression comes from the piston head compressing the fuel/air mix in the cylinder head, so basically we've determined you have no spark to start. Are you getting fuel? Are the points in the distributor good? Have you replaced the cap/rotor?

 

I think he's getting compression and combustion mixed up.

coil? Ignitor? I had one die on me overnight once. Break out your helms (you do have one right?) and multimeter and go through the troubleshooting checklist for the dizzy.

Stop touching wires to metal, go invest in a multi-meter or even a test light. Grounding live outputs from the ICM is a good way to fry that fragile module.

Get a multi-meter, check resistance on the ICM and coil, compare them to specs in the Helms or even a Chilton manual.

 

ttt need advise please, i tryed splicing the OBD1 wires into my OBD2 dizzy and it still didn't work, should I just buy an OBD1 dizzy? if it's not the distributer what else could it be? I got a P28 i'll try starting it with a LS ecu tonight..

If the car ran with the old ecu setup, then it probably is not the problem , what has changed on the car? You need to eleiminate variables, not bring more in like swapping ecus's around, use the ecu that u know is good, if the safc, ran the car before then it also is most likely not a problem concerning spark, fuel is another story.

What has changed, the dizzy?, did this come off of the old motor? Have you checked the igniter as stated above, also the coil? Also are you positive you have no spark? Did you try this with a spark plug attatched to the wire?


You need to eliminate the multiple variabled for us to give us a better idea of what is going on with the car, since we cant be there.
