I was searching around the net for some fog lights and happend to come across this link. Can anyone back up fog lights and explain that this is NOT true? http://www.gi.alaska.edu/Scien....html
When i have my fogs on they light up the area that is "under" the regular beam.
They make a decent difference, and it is much harder for weird pot holes and huge puddle to sneak up on me now.

You didnt read the thing in the link did you?
Fog lights DO serve a purpose, wether or not the difference in color changes anything, it beats me. Get one yellow fog and one white and see which makes it easier to see.

Its basicly saying that foglights dont help but if you notice when you turn them on in regular night time driving like everyone does it does help. Im going to buy the factory ones just for more visibility in the dark not for fog use. I just dont see why anyone would want to have yellow fogs, that is weak and to me looks like old bulbs that are close to burnt out, or I think of old redknecks with yellow teeth, lol.

I skimmed it.
Then I reread the title of the thread and decided that mine kinda worked and I wanted everyone on ht to know.

w/o a doubt... they only reserched it's inability to penetrate fog more... that's not why they're used...
Yellow light doesn't reflect off of water particles as well as blue or white...
Yellow fogs make a HUGE difference when driving in snow rain or fog... I've driven in cars with them without them HID's normal lights etc etc etc...
Yellow lights decrease the feedback the fog or whatever other water is in the air sends back to you.
I wouldn't have been suprised if they said that yellow light doesn't even penetrate as well as white/blue light... they don't ... but they make it easier to see the spaces it does light up.

Makes alot of sense.
I'll be getting a pair SUP3r Wh!t3 driving "fog lights" simply because I'd rather have more light when driving at night. The only roads I drive at night in my personal car are roads I've driven thousands of times, and could nearly drive them in dense fog with one headlight out, or on a clear night drive them with no lights on at all.
I'd say they are correct in saying the yellow doesnt penetrate any better, but I'd bet they illuminate a hell of a lot better, instead of just getting a big white glare in your face in dense fog.

fog lights are not really made so you can see better. It is so other people can see you white lights don't work as good because fog is white also and the blend together the yellow stands out in the fog better. and is easy er to see.

LOL, if it was a weekday I'd have guessed that the short bus forgot to pick you up in the morning for school.

havent installed mine yet...they are not JDM yellow fogs, just the OEM optional fogs from ebay but i will let ppl know when i do install, i have never really understood the diff. between yellow light and white light
I have HID foglights and I would'nt trrade em for anything. The light output is unreal compared to the Raybrigs I used to have, if you're gonna do it ,go HID.
I never thought they did till I actually did till I bought some cheap $10 set from big lots for my truck. They were made by Hella, but were named Optima or something. I had a couple different sets before this on my sol with no luck. I think the main reason these work so well is that I actually read the directions and put them where they are supposed to be.
i always thought that fog lights were yellow so they wouldnt refelct off the fog as much. after skimming the article, i'd have to say that there wasn't that much reasearch involved. for years, car makers in france have used yellow headlights, until they joined the European union, and made white headlights a standard.
