3" open exhaust opinions on noise
I would like to do a little cusomizing on my 3" Themal and have come up with an idea. I would like to cut off the rear section of the exhaust and run it out the side right in front of the rear tire. So basically just take it straight back as it normally does and then when it turns as it gets to the gas tank run it straight out the side. I can weld fairly well so thats not a problem. My concern is noise. I dont have emmisions testing so nobody but me is going to be checking it out for state inspections and such. I ran open downpipe for a week and it sounded like ***. Do you guys think it will sound any different with the longer exhaust? Is there anything to gain from this? The car will be driven on the street somtimes but not a lot. It will mostly be a track car.
I know the Themal is not exactly quiet. I only want power and nothing else. I am curious as to how loud it would be. If its gonna be near open dp loud then ill pass but if it gets a little quieter with an extra 6 feet of exhaust then im doing it.
unfortunately it will still be really loud. I have a custom thermal system and at one time it didn't have a muffler and it was just a sprout that ended at my rear bumper, and damn it was loud! come to think of it... its still loud even with a muffler!
Cool, now you can be just like the rest of the hicks in Lancaster! Have dem dar side pipes off the Teg like they do off dem big Chevy and Dodge pickups---yeehaawwh Hehe, jfwy man!

My friend has almost that exact same setup on his integra. Only it was all made by him, as like a 2 foot resonator off the header, then 2.5" all the way back and exits in front of the rear wheel.
It's so loud! I honestly belive it's at least as loud, if not louder then when I ran my old n/a gsr motor with an open header.
