10.5:1 comp. safe for stock d series rods???
im looking into a rebuild on my motor and im doing higher compression pistons and a some headwork................is 10.5:1 compression safe for the stock rods???? also, will higher compression help with the ITB setup i have???
well they are gonna tell you to replace the rods while you have it torn apart which isnt a bad idea. but it will be ok on stock rods. dont know about the ITB setup help
compression ratio would never be high enough to affect rod integrity... only if you're going boost or nitrous. If your not and want to strengthen the rods you could always have the machine shop shot-peen them if you don't want or need to replace them. This would just be for additional piece of mind.

most dseries rods can handle almost 200whp,
so yeah.. I highly doubt you can do anything to that motor(outside of forced induction) to make it strong enough to break the rods.
however, if you've got them out already,
it couldnt hurt to throw in something alil beefier...
well might hurt your wallet ,hehe.
at least get em shotpeened or sumthin(not that i even know what that really does.. but it sounds cheap and sounds like it'll make the rods stronger so yeah).

z6 and y8 rods snap around 250whp
but if you plan on revving your motor pretty high, then replace the rods, they don't like that too much.
If you have a d15 then definatly, they are really thin.
Rods are the weakest link in the d series

my friend has a d15 boostin at like 10-15psi we dont know cuz the gauge isnt hooked up but my friend had this boost controller on his car and it was like 10-15 on his gauge. im suprised his rods didnt go yet. and he;s had it for a while
well the psi doesnt matter, he could have massive blowby and be only making 190whp... but back to the original question if you are tearing the motor apart, you might as well get some crower or eagle rods, if you decide to change ur mind later and add some boost or nitrous
