How do you like ACL bearings? Yay or nay?
All I can say is I've only heard good things about them. They are currently in my spare sohc motor, but it isn't needed yet so i can't really give you a review.
I will say that when I plastiguaged them, they did run in spec for the motor. Guess I got lucky or something

I am about to build my C1 with them. Got a good deal from Earl
. Look up his name and im sure you will see a lot about acls. You know, in another thread someone said that you dont need to platiguage them. I cant remember if earl said that or not. Anyway pm him and he will tell you a lot about them.

Not checking tolerances is asking for disaster.

i know that and plan on doing it when i build my motor. Its just that people say they are one size fits all so there is no need to do it. I dont know, take a look at this link.

Earl reccommended the ACL's for my 600whp b16 build. . .
And that's what I put in the motor
And earl also mentioned that he VERY RARELY has problems with the clearances of ACL's

I PERSONALLY wouldn't use anything other than OEM after checking all tolerances and ordering the proper bearing size for the application.
However, I have heard no bad things about ACLs. I suppose if you check the tolerances and order the proper bearing, you should be ok, but why not just go ahead and use O.E.?

There was a period in which the OEM bearings were on backorder and the wait would be forever. Not sure if this is still the case. That may be a deciding factor for some to go ahead and use aftermarket bearings for their respective rebuilds. Price can be another attributing factor in the decision to go with OEM or aftermarket.
