JDM Conversion: Fiberglass vs. Metal Fenders
Im going for the JDM conversion on my 94 LS... I found fenders for the conversion and i wanted advice on whether to get fiberglass fenders or metal. The fiberglass ones are actually about 300.00 less. So let me know... Thanks
OEM fenders are 10 times better than the fiberglass ones, i used to have to fiberglass ones and they ripple and fit like crap. just get the oem ones you will be much happier.

Not only will metal yield better fitment, but it is also easier to repair if damaged and doesn't have the 'plastic' or 'fake' look to it. Also, if you get really lucky one night and get stopped by Officer "I want to **** you over" you'll be happy knowing that they are DOT approved fenders where as the fiber glass ones are generally illegal due to poor crash test ratings and what not.

Fiberglass = the suck. If you can afford the additional $300 right now, go with metal. If you can't afford it right now, wait until you can. Among other problems, the fiberglass cracks over time, which cracks the paint you just put on there, which wastes more of your money. There's simply NOTHING good about them.\

if they know their **** enough, the officer can always still nail you for the front end being illegal because of the bumper support to begin with.

I remember seeing some jdm carbon fiber fenders that fit pretty damn well. Get those and paint them, and I bet they will look as close as OEM as possible w/o using steel.
The fenders and bumper made by VIS are awesome quality, and the good part about going the fibergalss route is i got brand new OEM headlight, and new OEM rad support plus a carbonfiber hood. Way better then having used headlight, and have to pay for the metal fenders and hood to be fixed due to the damages they receive from shipping.
Metal! The first thing that people always do when they are checking out the car is to tap on the fenders and hood to see if they are metal or fiberglass. That kind of pisses me off though
I'm jumping on the bandwagon too......metal is the best. When I had my JDM ITR conversion put on...the shop working on it called me to come in to take a look at the car. They were dry fitting the pieces on. The OEM bumper went on just fine, but the fiberglass ones = sh*t. They told me upfront that they were going to charge me MORE money just to rework the fiberglass to make it fit. Screw it....I returned them and had the metal ones sent in their place.

There is a way to re-do your existing bumper support to make it fit and work with the JDM front bumer
It just requires a little measuring and re-welding.....but you're still going to have to use the JDM one too. When I get around to it, I'll show you a pic of mine. The body shop that did my front end refused to JUST have the JDM ITR bumper support used because it "didn't meet DOT standards" and they didn't wanna be sued

Metal.
A guy backed into my fender on xmas eve. Lucky my fender is OEM metal. It dented and saved the frame from possible damage. I was thinking the same night it I had fiberglass it would've just cracked, shattered and a Nissan 240 SX would've just owned my R.
