Mysterious smoke.....
I have a 98 prelude and when Im in vtec, a mysterious color smoke has been coming out. Its like a very light tan color almost. Its not burning oil. I mentioned to someone and they said it might be fuel? Does anyone know what Im talking about? If so... how do you correct this?

Uhhh Yeah of course your burning fuel or otherwise your car wouldn't go anywhere and second you are burning oil if your in vtec. But when you burn excess oil you should have a bluish tint color and burning lots of fuel or running rich should be a white color. What kind of upgrades do you have?
nop, when ur running alot of fuel the color that comes off the exhaust is black kinda brown too, when it comes like white or gray its oil.

LOL. Anyways, when u hit VTEC, there's going to be some burnt oil and a lot of carbon (at least that's what I think it is) coming out of your exhaust. Everytime I hit VTEC and look in my rear view mirror, there's a lot of smoke as well. So unless there's another reason to think something is wrong, it sounds normal to me.

Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
If your smoke is really brown something is f'd up. Hard throttle high RPM black smoke is just the engine running rich - normal, greyish black with light throttle/low load is normal for high miles cars - oil, truly white smoke is rare but bad (coolant leak).

it might be water?
lol
jks
but who knows..
taste it.. no dont..

its prob coolant..
check your coolant reservoir if its substantially low then thats prob your problem..
if fuel.. check your fuel consumption and compare it with others on here.. ask around what people get for "x" miles/galon...
trial and error
as for the v-tech thing never heard of that one...

I think you are mistaken man white smoke indicates the burning of coolant. black= fuel, bluish=oil. And yes it is normal to burn oil in vtec.

It may be unburnt fuel. H22's get real rich right after vtec. It seems that it's pretty normal for H22's to smoke in vtec. It wouldn't hurt to check your leak down and compression, that way you can rule out rings or cylinder wear and just be comfortable with it being a normal thing.
