Finding the year of a B18C1 Engine?

That will only tell you the date of the head, not the block... And quite often the two will not match due to early or late model year production. To determine the year of the block is actually quite simple...
Under the "B18C1" stamp will be a number... It will start with either 1, 2, 3, 4, etc.. 1 indicates first year run of production... so in the B18C1 case, 1994. 2 would be second year run or 1995, and so on. You can use this method for every block, so long as you know the first year it was in production... So for say a B18A, number one would be 1990. Get it?

No, not at all. Seems like around 8 times out of 10, the year on the head will match the vehicle... But like I said above, it will not always match between the engine block and the head. Sometimes you will see the years don't match the chassis... That usually indicates either a late or early model production.

Thats correct. What was the year stamped on the head for comparison?
