Default boost bleeding device, quasi missing link

Okay, while in the shower I was thinking that it would be nice to have some kind of boost controller that would bleed off 1lb of boost for every 2 lbs of boost the car makes. If you are running 16psi, and use turboedit, you can only adjust the tables to 10.3 psi, so that last 6 psi, is using whatever you have at 10.3. It would be lovely to step down what the map sensor sees by a 1:2 ratio. That way, when it says 10.3 psi, you're really boosting 20.6 psi. For every 1 psi on the fuel talbes, you're actually boosting double. Sure this won't be as acurate from 1-10.3 psi, BUT, if you're boosting more then that, chances are the car doesn't spend lots of time at 1-7 psi. And it might get a better overall tune if you steped down the numbers.

I know the missing link bleeds off all boost, but I only want something that will bleed of 1 lb for every 2 lbs of boost.

Also, i'm sure with a check valve, you could allow the vacuume part of the maps to be normal, and the boost bleeder wouldn't affect the vacuume, but only bleed off boost.

Anybody ever try this? Anybody know where I can get one? Would a normal boost controller work, (if you hooked up a pressure gauge before and after the boost controller, injected a known level of boost into the system and then turned the boost controller until it was exactly a 1:2 ratio)??? Or is it not possible to get a linear step down like this?

this woudl be bad for the turbo. it woudl havwe to work twice as hard and with nothing to slow down the impeller (1/2 bleedign off) it woudl toast the bearings. Good idea though.

WHAT? No that's not it at all.

My idea would be to have the turbo make X pounds of boost, and have the map sensor read half of that boost, so i can tune for it. Right now the ecu only understands 10.3 lbs of boost. I'm not bleeding off the boost from the turbo, i'm tricking the ecu into only thinking the motor is only getting half the boost.

well I dunno, i've been reading up on the 3 bar map sensor, but the program doesn't adjust the numbers when you say you're using a 3 bar. It still limits your max boost on the fuel and ignition maps to 10.3 psi.

this might be a minor glitch in the program, and I've heard they're trying to sort it out, but as of now, i don't think it's fixed, and I can't boost past 10.3 psi.
