Idle problems on DPFI CRX - possible EACV?
I have a DPFI CRX, and the idle bounces violently between 1K and 0 rpm when the car is at a complete stop. I've replaced the ignitor, that didn't help.
I've researched a little on H-T, and I'm thinking it might be the EACV. I know it's located on the #1 runner on the IM. But there are two hoses connected to it. I'm assuming they are coolant lines.
Do I just pull these off? I don't need to drain the coolant or anything, do I? Do I just clean the screen and then reinstall it? Anything else?
Thanks for the help

i had that problem on my 87 rex si, even though it is MPFI, its the same procedure
just pull of the coolant lines and take the valve completely apart and clean it
you will lose some coolant but you can just top it off when you get done putting it back on
you may have to adjust you idle when you are done

No codes.
I took off the EACV, spilled coolant everywhere
Now I am supposed to take out the bolt on the end right? Is there a special tool required because none of my allen wrenches fit. Please help, I feel dumb now.

with no codes, why are you suspecting the eacv? eacv simply allows bypass air around the throttle plate for addition loaded idling like AC/wipers/heater/highbeams, etc. with car running, unplug it. idle will drop about 250 rpms. plug back in, it goes back up.
there are two wires if i recall. yel/black should have 12V when car is running. when power is applied and disconnected, eacv will audibly click.
have you shorted the ecu to check for codes? considered fast idle thermovalve or IAT? hold your hand over TB and see if car stalls. if not, check TB gasket for leaks.

Actually, I read here on H-T that one guy cleaned his and it fixed the idle problem. There is alot of buildup inside mine, so do I just clean it with carb cleaner and let it dry, or am I supposed to take the whole thing apart?

all you do is srap the screen. dpfi doesn have fitv so thats all you can do. also check for vacuum leak, i had to play with my idle screw to fix it. it idles high now but doesnt surge as much as it did before.
