When I shut my car off, my radiator hoses swell, like ballon up enough to cause the stock clamps to not hold the fluid back, the car never overheats, but ever since new radiator install and new cap, its like the system is holding pressure in, I know for a fact the thermo is stuck open because the heater is cooling down the whole car back to C, Im going to replace it, but I dont think thats what would cause this swelling because the thermo was like this with my old radiator and old cap, I replaced it because I cracked the neck leaning on the filler cap...what do I do? I need to drive it but it leaks so much after I shut it off its a pain filling it up.

 

have you bled the hoses to see if there is preassure there should be a valve where the top hose is at by the head is a pressure relief valve try that.

 

probably your dump connection / hose is clog up?

 

It was all working fine until new radiator and cap...and my D15b doesn't have that little screw your referring to...the dump tube was working as well..however, I didn't make sure the radiator although it had the hole, if indeed it was a hole and not like a defect to where it was closed..will check that...I'm wondering if that cap isn't bleeding the pressure to the overflow, cuz it stays pressurized for like 20 mins after the car is shut off...

will this hurt my engine? the pressure? it doesn't leak or overheat..just not sure if its hurting anything

 

I'd check the radiator, sounds like a clog somewhere, drain the system and pressure check it..... damned dog hair.....

 

Did you properly bleed the car after installing the radiator?

Sounds like you got a huge air bubble in the system which would cause excessive pressure

 

I let the car run with the cap off and topped it off and waited until I no longer saw any bubbles...however someone said I should have squeezed the hoses etc..I don't know, can you give me a run down on doing it properly?

I dont think the radiator is clogged because its moving water, its brand new..and I'm not overheating

search first and then if you have any MORE questions you can ask then

 

there's a bleed valve on your top (i think) radiator hose where it connects to the engine...run it and fill it till that starts spurting...then close it, top off the overflow and keep an eye on the next few days and add coolant as necessary...oh yeah, buy a helms

 

There is NOT a screw on the D15 motors...and I have searched, but since I haven't found anything about swollen radiator hoses, I posted...be constructive man damn..To everyone else who has offered ideas..THANK YOU

 

this could possibly be a sign of age on the hoses. they could have weakend over time. have u replaced the hoses?

To bleed the cooling system. this is how i do mine

I pour 1 gallon in (im runnin the Full size Teg Koyo Radiator) and then start the car up. keep pouring coolant in til it tops off then watch as the bubbles emerge. when the car has reached normal operating temperature and you dont see any more bubbles you are good to go. but i alway let the needle reach its normal spot on the gauge.
