timing light

Default timing light

i was told that for a bseries motor, i need a special timing light,...is there any truth to this? cause my friend wants to do his timing belt on his b16 motor but he has an advance autoparts bought timing light,..theres no digital readout on it or anthing,..just a trigger and a light,..is this light okay to use?

The non-adjustable ones are fine, just look for the mark in the middle of the 3 on the crank pulley.

yeah make sure that you jump the connector otherwise you timing will be off by like 2 degrees.

see i know which mark he needs and i told him that,..but a friend of his who is a fucktard said he needed a "special" timing gun,..i think the only thing "special" is that kid

the only reason you would you the different timing light is to check for timing advance but you don't need it to set the base timing.

Correct.

You'd need an advance timing light if you wanted to set timing to anything else besides 14,16,18
