It was a sohc zc. The b16 has been modded since and i'm a better driver. I'd like to find a dohc zc and see what happens.

LOL...I like how you say "no replacement for displacement"...and then in your signature it reads "V8s suck!". I'm confused...

B16 here
ran a 13.4 on STOCK INTERNALS. before Cbad closed
8.7 @ 83 MPH at one track BARONA DRAG STRIP
9.1 @ 81 spinning at another 1/8th mile track (QUALCOMM STADIUM)
pics and timeslips to prove it.
super gutted car, many bolt ons, milled head....
every internal is STILL stock (not that i am not building a head on the side)

Can't compare a FI engine to a naturally aspirated engine. Of course a turbo ZC or mini-me is going to whoop on a stock B16....so what? It's supposed to. Need to turbo the B16 and then compare.

true...but you can compare the overall cost of everything, which favors the ZC/Sohc VTEC motor.

imo if you want the most hosepower for as little as possible id go with the single cam turbo
but if you wants something you can have more potential with go with the b16, both great engines in my opinion

It might be cheaper. At least at first. But after you blow up a few of them, the price will catch up.

ya from what I have seen around and stuff... the sohc turbo is a bit cheaper and maybe easier to set up than a b16 turbo, because you probably have to lower the compression on a stock b16 for the turbo to run safer.... but what I would do is get the b16 first, leave it n/a and stock then later do the turbo upgrade and engine work for lower compression... but thats just what I would do. I have seen some super-fast sohc turbo'ed cars (mostly EGs) and I have actually seen an EF with b18 turbo run a 10.37 1/4 I was pretty excited to see that one run... I have pics of the car itself if anyone wante to see...

If you actually explained why the motor would "blow up", I might almost think your post had some type of significance.
My friend has a d16a6 with home made turbo kit. It's a 13 second motor and he's boosted the motor twice before...never had a problem. It's all about how good of work is done, not what TYPE of motor it is.
