I'm putting together a very similar LS/VTEC engine, P30's oversize, gsr head, ctr cams, I/H/E, usual stuff. I've been thinking though that stage 2 cams and a valvetrain upgrade may be needed to clear 200whp. Should be nice and strong either way, when you dyno post your results. Good luck

Good stuff guys, I have an LS block sitting here which will eventually sport USDM ITR pistons (81 mm or so) with type r oil pump, ARP rod bolts, etc. Post those numbers up when possible

EDIT: I would guess the first setup would be good for about 190 whp or so, tuned. Just a rough guess.

i have almost the same exact setup, except that i'm using a gsr crank which lowers comp about .2. i also have a ctr intake and omni flat faced valves. other than that its the same thing. i put down 174hp and 130tq with only a half hour of tuning and the a/f still looks like crap but its safe. i also have this setup in a 94 ex and it ran 14.1@98 w/ a 2.3 60ft at atco raceway. i think i can definitely get into the 13's with this setup.

yea my goal to make 175hp for now more then 200hp for next summer. got the motor in and started today, damn its quiete and smooth. tomorrow i gotta install the del sol radiator and check the adjustment on the valves. this was my first honda engine build and it wasnt that bad i did everything myself. gotta fix a few more things on the car that are bad so i can start driving it hopefully next month. im not really looking to race this car just want something fun to drive when im not driving my 91 galant vr4.

I hit 163 UNTUNED w/ LS block and ITR head. To hit 200, you will almost def. need "stage two" cams. Good luck

hell ill be happy with 160 something hp off the stock p30 ecu. i figure with the afc i could get close/above 175hp. we have a dyno at work so once its broken in it will be on the mustang dyno for some baseline runs. once the injectors and afc are on then ill do a few more pulls. ill keep u guys posted.

You should end up with at least 185-190whp if your set up is tuned properly. There are a couple guys I've met on H-T putting out real good power with 89mm LS cranks and P30s in there blocks. Very basic setups: just saw backdraft's engine and in race trim it made 217whp w/LS/VTEC, ported gsr head and S2S2 cams. I guy I race with is making 205whp w/GSR block, P30s, ported itr head and ctr cams. Both engines are well put together and tuned even better. Good stuff eh: lets me know I'm headed in the right direction. What do you guys think?

I'd like to agree with you. I haven't finished mine yet, but it's the same story as you guys, b18b1/b16. I look forward to at least 170 on stock cams and some goodies, we'll just have to see. Bigger cams for me later. I DEF loook forward to it.
