Default weenie heater

so yah, the temperature has started dropping, and its my first winter with this car, and im beginning to realize that the heating system is extremely weak. even after 30 minutes of driving to warm the car up, im still freezing my *** off. is there anything DIY that i can do to beef up the heating a bit?

I just got this jacket a week or two ago and I love it. It helped that I have a buddy that works there.

Block half of your rad with cardboard or something from the outside so your engine temp will increase a bit. Just test it and see if you need to block more or less. I know you see 18 wheelers driving with half of their grills covered in the winter. Same ****

No, I actually have to do this with mine cause I installed a full length GSR radiator in my car and it barely warms up.

Just wondering, the problem is that the car doesn't warm up? Or is it that the car warms but the heating blows?

I believe the problem is the car doesnt really put out all that much heat, so the radiator actually does TOO good of a job. The coolant temp gets low, and the air coming from your heater core is not as hot as it could be, leaving you chilled in your car with the heat all the way up and the fan on "4".

Yea. I was just asking because I have had to put cardboard in front of the radiator in my land cruiser a while back until we got a new thermostat.

But, my civic had a problem where the control arm on the heater core was not adjusted properly. Just requesting more information.

If you start to overheat, just pull over and pop the hood, put cardboard in back seat. Had to do it many times. Just watch that temp gauge.

start with the thermostat.....it's always best to do the cheap **** first and work your way up. Possibly it's stuck open. Or maybe you need a new heater core.

Cardboard is easier I dont think it thermostat its the cars get too much cold air and its hella cold out. I even had the same problems in fl believe it or not. I had a old caravan pizza delivery van and I had to block the rad and even hooked the cooling fan to a toggle switch and it never got hot even at a stop.
