Default Brake pad comparo question

I currently run Wilwood Superlite 4 piston calipers with 11.75" 2 piece rotors on my 89 Hatch. The pads are Carbo-Tech Panther Plus compound. The car is a daily driver and an SM autocross car. Don't go trying to talk me into changing to OEM brakes. I won't. I love this setup.

However, I want to change pad compounds. The Panther Plus doesn't have the cold performance that I'm after. The 1st stop on the first autocross run of the day is usually nail bitting, as the pads do nothing for the 1st split second on application. Also in really wet driving conditions (Pacific NorthWest), the pads take 1 second or more to bite when they've been splashing along for a while on the street or highway.

I'm considering the Wilwood PolyMatrix T compound. I have not heard alot about these, but from the sounds of the description on the Wilwood site, they seem to be just about the right setup. Also if anyone has any other reccomendations for a PAD (no, not a change to OEM calipers/rotors), please let them be known, but keep in mind that I need an application to fit the Superlite caliper.

Thanks

have you tried dragging the brakes all the way up to the start line? If I'm using a pad that requires warm up i usually drag my left foot all the way up to the start while using the right foot to use gas.

I did that a couple times this year. It did make a difference, but I'm also after the previously mentioned improvement in street performance as well.

Thanks

I really haven't driven anything that compares to the P+ in terms of autox performance, the drag going up to the line when they're cold is well worth the extra feel and right-now stopping they offer when up to temp, which doesn't take much. Plus dragging up to the line makes you sound hardcore. WwwwwaaaaaaaAAAAHHHHwwwaaaaaAAAAAHHH...

Do they make the Bobcat for the Wilwood? That felt really good on the street and didn't require any dragging (competed on them in 3 separate WRX's and drove a lot of miles on the way to the ATL pro with them last season).

Cobalt has their compounds for the dynalite caliper. Does your caliper use the same pads?

Not sure, but don't believe so.

I thought I read on Carbotech's site that they will custom make pads for many applications. Give them a call and ask if they can make you a set of Bobcats.

Either that or I'm just on drugs.

Would the Bobcat be a better autocross pad than the Panther Plus?

Bobcats are great street pads, but I wouldn't use them for much more than that. They didn't do too well at HPDE's.

Yes they are better than a panter + for autocross because of the better cold temp perfomance.
