depends what you want to monitor.
just install it properly, and dont change any settings. (initialize), and thats it.

If its just a monitor why don't you just get an Apex-i rev-speed meter? It's alot cheaper and thats pretty much what its meant for anyways.

VAFC monitors different items.
VAFC monitors different items.
Yeah the VAFC shows different items but in order to read those signals you have to connect those wires anyways. So then there would be no point in asking the question. right? like how can it monitor those items if the wires for the signal arent even connected.
you can connect all the wires properlly and then just don't mess with it, do set the vtec switch over to whatever the ecu setting are.
you practically have to connect every wire anyways. to use all of its monitoring otions

Not quiite...do not connect the vtec in and out wires. Unlike, say, hondata, where you can set the vtec crossover by rpm as well as throttle, vafc is on or off based on rpm only.
Everything else can be connected and not altered. Keep the vtec controls on the vafc for something like a...umm...shift light I guess.
