Check Engine, Seatbelt, Low Fuel Light Don't come on!!!???
Okay, when i turn the ignition on in my 92 si, these lights don't come on like they're supposed to, so obviously they don't function like they're supposed to when the car is running. Because there are a few out, it leads me to believe that it's a fuse or relay. I already checked the underhood fuse box, and the fuse box by the hood popper. They all looked fine. Where should i go from here?
it could be the actual bulb in the dash that has burnt out!
my check engine light was burnt so i took apart the dash and changed it..

a bunch of screws are holding everything together. along the top of the dash there will be a long plastic piece with about eight screws, take that off. that gives you access to the screws holding the smoked plastic screen on, take those off. that will take you to the cluster that is holding the lights that are burnt out... after you remove it, turn it around and locate the bulbs... they just twist and come off.
it sounds really complicated, but its actually really easy.

Is the low fuel one supposed to come on when your ignition is on - but not started? Mine hasn't come on since i owned the car - and i keep playing chicken with my fuel quantity (i've had no bars) and the low fuel light still hasn't come on, but I always chicken out in the end - thankfully i haven't stranded myself yet
- meh i guess i shouldn't be so lazy and just change the damn bulb.

heh I don't actually - sorta funny you ask - because I went into the lordco (canadian auto store) and asked for a low fuel warning light, and he was like "do you have one with you" and I was like "no because the dash is kind of a pain to take a part and I didn't want to have to do it twice" so he sighs but looks it up on his comp and basically gave me these GE 12v 74/BP2's - they look pretty small, but i'm not sure it is what is required.
I'll be mad (haha) none the less if I take my dash apart and they don't work!
mikestar seen you on another forum where my nick is ludeguy (:

hey ludeguy what's up. YAH SO i took my dash apart today and some of the bulbs had stanley orange holders and others had these weirdl little round holders. looked like somebody had been diggin around back there before i bought the car cuz a few screws were missing. Anyways......aren't all of them supposed to have the stanley holders? I got the new bulbs but i couldn't find any holders, and the old bulbs wouldn't twist out of the holders that were already in there. None of the autoparts stores had the holders either.....what do i do? would the dealership have them? ohh also, after i was done and put everything back, my ABS light has been coming on about 5 minutes after i start the car up....but it still works....i dunno what it's from? would i unplug the battery to get it to stop?
i'll be diggin into my dash over the next week, so i'll let you know what I see (: - as for the abs - I'm pretty sure it's unrelated to you diggin in your dash, is your fluid topped? - i've heard abs can be a bitch - hopefully it will work out for ya.
when you back there did you find out what kind of bulbs they are?

go to a junk yard and pull the bulbes.the lights pull straight out they dont twist just use a pair of needle nose pliers.im pretty sure the holders are universal through out honda makes/models.
they take 74 bulbs, but i couldn't get any of the bulbs to come out of the stanley holders, so that led me to believe that they were one whole assembly. however, at the auto parts store they just sold the bulbs.
no dude you just didn't pull hard enough...
I had my dash apart today... I too have little orange stanley holders.. those twist out of that electrical panel (i think you figured that) but the bulbs themselves pull STRAIGHT out of the little orange cups.. you just gotta yank - and perish the thought of the bulb breaking in your fingers! heh. In any case - I changed my low fuel light, put it back in, and it still doesn't work....I then swapped it with the seatbelt light (a known good working bulb) - and it still didn't work...
can anyone confirm that when the car ignition is ON (but not started) that the low fuel light should be on? - all my other bulbs light up but that one. It would make sense that it should come on as a test to the bulb integrity, but mine doesn't ): I don't have an actual prelude owners manual so I can't verify what's supposed to happen at ignition on, and it's not covered in the Helms.
sorta sucked digging all the way into my dash for nothing.
oh and also - I too had brown circular holders - that looked like access was thru a flat-tip - those were for my check engine light and trunk open light.

if i remember right, the bulbs can be removed from the holder but the wires are wrapped around the holder so when screwed in it contacts the board that makes them light up. Use needle nose pliers to unwrap the wires and the bulbs just slide out.
