Default Need Help with Girls Jeep

Alright its a 93 grand cherokee 150k or so mi. It keeps eating up a lil less than 3 quarts of oil a week and dam near all the radiator fluid in the same amount of time. I thought it would have to be the headgasket, however her exhaust shows no sign of it. I have never had a catalyst on any car so im not sure if that could be hidding the coloration of the smoke. Two other things are when the car is shut off the radiator hisses and it drops some fluid for a min or two. Also when accelerating off the line, it seems, that right behind the firewall it sounds like water is being pushed, kinda a gurgling sound, and it will drop the temp sometimes. Radiator, water pump headgasket? all or some? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

At 150k im suprised that Grand Cherokee is still running. The cylinder heads on those things are worthless. Could be anything man.

Yup, basically will a car with a "cat" not show signs of a blown headgasket like that of a car with straight pipes?

If you're low on coolant, the gurgling sound behind the dash/firewall area is the heater core being filled and drained every time the coolant pressure increases. It's almost positive that you have a bad headgasket. You don't HAVE to blow clouds of white smoke, after all.

have you done a compression test. My sis. has a 95 cherokee with an inline six, she drive the hell out of it and never takes care of it. I put 4 quarts of oil in it before our last road trip (took 1 just to show in the dip stick). It has over 200,000 miles. Their's uses oil b/c they ran it low and have scoring on the cyl wall and it's blowing by(oil drenched a/f) is proof of this thanks to the greatly planned placement of the pcv on the a/f box. If your not getting oil in the radiator or water/anti-freeze in the crank case it almost has to be a head gasket. Knock the jeeps if you want but they can take a beating.
